History
The Kazakh Association for the Study of the Liver (KASL) was founded in 2007 by decision of the l Congress of Hepatologists of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In the creation of KASL, an invaluable contribution belongs to famous health care professionals and scientists: Professor Lyudmila Konstantinovna Polgova, Professor Saule Temirbulatovna Doskozhaeva, Professor Amangul Kuandykovna Duisenovna, Associate Professor Jamal Isakovna Otunbaeva, Associate Professor Zhanna Akhmetovna Aldasheva.

Mission and Purpose

The KASL mission is to develop hepatology in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The purpose of the association is to increase awareness of liver diseases and popularize hepatology as a specialty among the medical community of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Activity
KASL unites physicians, scientists and teachers into a single scientific community through joint research, exchange of experience and implementation of innovations
KASL activities include:

  • Conducting educational events in the field of hepatology and gastroenterology (postgraduate courses, advanced training cycles and retraining programs);
  • Implementation of scientific projects in the field of hepatology;
  • Exchange of knowledge and interaction with international organizations and scientific communities in the field of hepatology.
Сontribution and Prospects
Under the auspices of KASL, since its foundation, more than 110 educational and scientific events have been held, including regular congresses “Central Asian Gastroenterology Week” and “Almaty Hepotology”, which were attended by more than 10,000 students and lecturers from more than 40 countries.

The efforts of KASL are directed to formation of the future of hepatology in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Annual International congress «Central Asian Gastroenterology week»
From October 5 to October 7, 2023, the International Congress “VIII Central Asian Gastroenterological Week” was held, which is part of the Plan of Scientific and Practical Activities of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Annual International congress «Almaty Hepatology»
From October 6 to October 7, 2022, the fourth International Congress “Almaty Hepatology-2022” was held in Almaty, which is part of the Plan of Scientific and Practical Activities of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

  • Member of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL).
